If you do look into one of the overdrive transmissions, Don't let anybody tell you that you need all kind of expensive modifications. You have a 250 6cyl engine not a 500 HP. race motor. A standard built transmission will work fine behind your engine. I'm sure living were you are, finding a transmission shop that can competently repair a powerglide should not be a problem.
