thanks everybody.
Ive asked a lot of questions this year, some of them pretty dumb, and the support and answers I got were extremely helpful.
I couldnt have done it without this site and your help.
sounds kind of hokey, but its true.

Wow! That is very cool! It looks familiar is it possible that I've seen it around? Say the Sonoma/Napa/Lake County areas?

Very professional job! Beautiful! Reminds me when I was a kid, my Uncle had a 46. I was so little, but I still can picture his. It was all black.

nothin better than a huntin dog in an old truck (boykin spaniel).

I drove it to the local ace hardware store today to load up some lumber to build the stake bed. she kinda wanders over 40mph.

Jay, your truck is neat.... but I just gotta say it. Those lights remind me of Christmas!!
Does that pretty dog, Daisy Mae, like riding at night time?

by the way, i noticed you are in S.C. my dog daisy is a boykin spaniel, the state dog of S.C, and a darn good hunting dog.

to your question, nope she prefers daytime, lots more to see. and i havent driven it much at night. its a handful enough during the day.
im exhausted driving my truck, mostly from the stress of driving it in the city, learning how to drive a big bolt, and getting the kinks out after a frame off revamp.
it is getting easier as i start to trust myself behind the wheel.
and to the person, whoever you are, that put in an aux transmission in my truck many years ago, bless you!

Very nice truck. The one thing I wish the ADs had were the crank out windows. I like those rear view mirrors too. What type of lights did you use for your roof marker lights?

mirrors were custom made in stainless by lucky's speed shop in fremont, ca.

lights are arrow cab lights NOS from the 50s. Got them on ebay. just do a search for "arrow cab lights"

restoration update

I took her into the shop to get the heavy lift items taken care of.
Its currently at Kellys Truck Repair in San Leandro CA.
engine is out, transmissions are out, front suspension is completely removed.
steering box is removed.

kingpins are bad, steering box is completely bad with the bearings being completely destroyed.

so Im replacing the bearings in the transmissions, new kingpins, tie rods etc.
even the spring bushings.

while its all apart, Im putting in my 261 engine and a new clutch.
