They stay remarkably clear and you can identify a lot more vehicles in the back ground. Couple COE's and some really cool cars on the street.

Did they actually make a panel truck that long, or would that have been some custom job? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,608 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,608 | Rick If you blow the picture up, you can see something on the front roof that may be a siren or a flashing light.
Is it a ambulance?

Yes, that is an ambulance. There's a truck in that picture that looks like a 3/4 or 1 ton with single rears hooked up to a trailer. Would that be factory? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 125 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 125 | I agree that's a siren on the front. As I remember, most ambulances were converted/dual-purpose hearses (had a way to lay someone on a gurney and could go fast what with those big cadillac and pontiac engines - I was an EMT on ambulances in the early 70s) up until the late 60s/early 70s. My guess (and that's all it is) is that it's some sort of special purpose fire truck or a police vehicle; maybe a paddy wagon. Anyone? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I live in Salt Lake and remember the Streator Chevrolet dealership. It has been gone since the early 1980's and that area has now been redeveloped with a large hotel just to the north of it. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Hey Spanky, great find. Or near the top right, the "page" tab, under it click "zoom" pick the %.
Nice pictures!

It would be cool to see a picture of such a truck. So far, I have not had any luck in locating one. Also, corn shellers mounted on trucks were quite common. There were several of those in our area. | | |
