It was supposed to drop to 23 F last night, which is real cold for where I live along the Sacramento River in California, but when I went out to the car this morning prepared to deal with the ice, the windows were clear and I saw that the temperature was 39 F. The weather service was way off on that one.

What does this have to do with "...the care, restoration, preservation or use of old GM trucks!"?

Well, right now as I write this, 9:45 pm, temp 27 deg. (wind chill about 8)...That Canadian air mass from the north is colliding with a line of thunder storms coming up from the south, right over us, producing thunder ice. We're suposed be waking up in the morning to snow and have between 6 & 12 inches by the time it's over tomorrow evening...on top of the ice. Not a big deal for you northern boys. But we usually deal with a lot of ice during the winter, not a whole lot of snow.

It's a beautiful fall morning! 27 deg with 35 MPH north winds. I don't mind it so much. What I hate worst about winter is the terminal dry skin I get. I go through gallons of lotion just to keep from scratching myself to death.

It was 65 yesterday afternoon here and by 8:00pm it was 35 and dropping. We got about 2-4 inches of rain around Springfield, depending on where you were last night. We are supposed to get about 2 inches of ice today and the 5-8 inches of snow tonight.

I really feel bad for some of you folks....it was 73F here at 7 AM....up to 84F (11:30) now but we're expecting a "cold" front this weekend that will drop the bottom out of it. Highs of only 72....burrrrrr! Better check the antifreeze!!!

Well, it was about 4 degrees when I left for work yesterday. This morning I put on a pair of flannel-lined Carhartt jeans to be better prepared. When I let the dog out I found out it was a relatively balmy 32. But the wind is howling today, unlike yesterday. Quite a difference in temp but because of the wind it feels about as cold as yesterday. Hopefully it will warm up enough today to melt away some of the packed snow and ice. Be careful today, everyone.

That would be Ark City (about 50 miles S of Wichita). Actually I'm not IN Ark City. We live almost two miles N of town on US77.

Tiny,
I'll be moving to McPherson in a couple months and I have a great uncle who is the vet in Winfield. Just wondering how close I will be to other stovebolters!

Here in Sweden its about 53 degrees - its been balmy all month. I could have saved a bunch on antifreeze.

This is a good topic for the greasy spoon - let's keep this forum for talk about pre 1972 trucks and their issues. Thanks.
