I took apart the whole front end of my '66 3/4 ton, scrapped the old damaged parts, and put on a nice new aftermarket grill support. Then turned on the baby to let it run for awhile and my faulty radiator hose finally broke, spraying all the hot coolant fluid everywhere(including on me ) Besides that I was happy with my first project.

I rolled my cab gently onto it's back (and onto a nice soft 4x8 sheet of insulation foamboard) so that I could cut the old rusty cab mounts off and weld new ones on. When I disassembled my truck I found that a P.O. had put 2x6 wood blocks under the cab to support it because the cab mounts had rusted through and the cab was sagging on the frame. It was a job, but it went well with the help of my cherry-picker. I've spent the last 2 years on the frame/suspension and 350 motor. Now I'm reworking the cab. With any luck I'll be finished with the cab this year! Then on to reassembly!

I sort of sat on the corner of my bed and turned a notebook in my hand like it was a steering wheel, you know, pretending like I was driving the ol' 64. I should have been feeling the real thing over three weeks ago, but the grant/scholarship $ I build my truck with is being witheld until a fourth postponement date. I say to hell with Matt Blunt and the new Missouri Dept. of Higher Education for keeping a gorgeous truck off the road.

I was at the hospital much of the weekend visition gmy 88 year old grandma. She came over from Salem on Wed. to visit us and promptly fell off the front porch and broke her hip! This was about 1/2 hour after she arrived. She's doing great and actually went home to Salem today. She's one tough lady.

As for the truck, I worked on the tranny rebuild a bit and took the skins off the insides of the doors. I got the engine back from the machine shop today so that will be a priority now.

On my '65 c10... I took off the trailer brake unit and assorted wires and accessories. That was a dirty job and cost me one t-shirt when my shirt got caught in the wheels of the creeper I was using at my friends house.

I also drove around in the '65 C10... seemed the nice weather brought out all the cool old cars and trucks.

Sunday, I took the baby moons off the wheels, then scrubbed down the wheels and tires good. I then touched up the black spray paint on all four wheels since I had a few nicks and old paint showing in a few places. I let that dry good... then I hit the tires with that armor all extreme tire shine... really keeps the tires shiny for a good month.

I also washed off the baby moons... and polished them up a little bit with some Mother's wheel polish. Then I put it all back together.

Woog, wasn't that you that had a Blazer a few years ago, going over whole thing, engine bad or something, working in non-heated garage?? Ever get that finished? Seems like you had just gotten an AD too. Something about Coke and bed board fires and such? Heh! Was that you? Have new projects now. OH, yeah! Kids liked Dinosaurs? OR, wrong guy??

To answer the subject question. I LOOK at my 49 4400 everyday in drive. It sits with no box, looking better than it really is. Sometimes I give it the finger like it is unwanted, and other times I open door, get depressed, walk away! Darn thing's gonna take more money than I wanted to spend on it, to get right. AND, no nice weather here in NE Indiana yet to really get serious on working it. I did start a few times this winter. Started hard, ran, but weak! I let run till it warms up inside, the heater still works anyway, then shut it off for another month or two. Wife Hates it there, always has dis-liked my "collections", and now I'm starting to lean to negative too. No one would want it, so won't try to sell as it is now.
I also have 75 IH Cargo-star in garage, is my runner, but need to finish things to run it. That will be my Spring project first. Also doing a Power King Lawn Tractor at same time.

I took her to the car wash and gave her a much needed bath. Isn't funny how much better a clean bolt runs?!

Peggy and I took the Stovebolt Flagship (the '49 3800 at the top of the page) up to Sourthern States Friday to pick up 1,000-lbs of 10-10-10 for the christmas trees. I also ran out to the Stihl dealer for a few things Saturday. Cleaned out the fertalizer real good after we were done

Basically, just drove it around doing errands and using it as a truck. Stayed in the Garage today.

then fixed my dash lights...er..rigged 'em anyway untill i get a new headlight switch, fixed a tail light wire.. general dinking around..

Installed new led tailights and removed the seats and carpeting prior to painting the interior.

Nothing, we still have a wack load of snow so their still tucked away in storage resting up for a busy summer.

Weather was great here in Upstate NY and I was out in the garage all weekend working on my 54 GMC resto project along with some other odds and ends. Working mostly inside the cab grinding welds on the floor pans I put in a while ago. I also had to weld on the gas pedal pivot and then fabricate a couple of floor seal retainers for the clutch and brake pedal shafts. Do I need another retainer for the the gas pedal shaft seals? I was hoping to have primed the floors and firewall today, but I did not get that far.
Never seem to get as far as I would like, but I am making progress.

Tinkered with the carb a little. Reset float level and took it for a spin. Seems to run pretty good. Still a little tinkering left to do to get it just right. It started snowing about 11am and hasn't stopped, so that put a damper on things. :rolleyes:

Cleaned the lid of my sm420 so it can be painted to match the finished case. Still waiting for the correct part from Gear Vendors to mate the recently rebuilt sm420 tranny with my new overdrive auxillary tranny. http://community.webshots.com/album/548504810ONOfEg

Used my '72 to move the trailer that my '54 has been sitting on. Unloaded the '54 so I can use the trailer to move something else ...

Mostly worked on the too-new-to-be-a-bolt because it was running crapy. Finally this afternoon it runs like it might pull a loaded trailer.

Fun to test drive once it worked again. Smoke'n the tires and full-throttle acceleration; I was driving like a teenager again!

I towed a '51 Chevy edan out of a field to a friend's friends house,then went back to the same field and towed a '55 Ford wagon to a different friend's friends house.
took the hitch out of my reciever and tossed it onto the flatbed,figured I'd put that and the tow bar away when I got home. The hitch slid out of the truck as I pulled onto the main road-I could see it in the mirror. In the approx. 2 minutes it took to park the truck and walk back there,some low-life had stopped and picked it up.I can only figure:A-he saw me lose it and couldn't resist. or B-he musta needed it more than I did. Good thing I have a spare one! Went to my friends house,and he offered me an old locked up GMC 248 engine if I'd pull it out of the truck,so that's on my agenda for Monday,if it doesn't snow some more.

Saturday pulled got tractor tires changed on a JD (newer) 830 and toted em with my 59. Sunday worked on removing body work on the JD so I can pound the dents out of it and de-muck it.

Two 13.6 28 tractor tires fit just fine in a 9x6 flatbed. But they are a bit of a biyat.. to get in and out. The fronts were easy.

Saturday, with temps in the low 80's, I phoned the grandkids (9 & 6) and asked them how they would like to go "cruisn'" with PaPa in the "old truck". They both said "cool", and would be ready to go when I arrived (they both had a few dollars in their pocket and wanted to "cruise" to Target for some special toy! ) Oh well, we drove around and had a real good time. Sunday, temps back up, loaded up the wife and headed out shopping (her favorite thing to do), but this time drove Dusty. It was a great weekend to get out and drive the old bolt!

Worked in the barn part of the day....way too much rain the last couple of days to bring Blue out. Finally put passenger door felt channel and cat wiskers in. Also re-set gap on plugs. Waitin for it to dry up today and then I'll take a drive.

Between rain showers, I managed to replace and get my taillights working. I also replaced my leaking fuel pump and washed off all the grime from dirt roads. I also lubed up the drivers door latch that had been sticking. Eventually I'll get cought up until something else breaks

'66 C-10 stepside

I spent 23 hours traveling from North Carolina back to California Saturday. I got up earlyish on Sunday to see what's been going on here. The Ox would not start, time for a new battery, it has a 6 year old Autozone battery in it... Charged the battery and it cranked up on the 3rd try. The Coupe fired up on the 2nd try... took it for a spin around the block. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the mess the lazy contractors made in my front yard.

well,strange but this is true- took the little lady for a drive in the country looking for parts.came accross a 5tonner in a farm about 4hours drive from home anyway after haggling with the farmer (good bloke) I finally got the courage up and dived into the spider infested cab that had alot off cobwebs but no spiders?
and began to wrestle with the nice shiny glovebox cover that was in xlent nic I fought with those screws like I had a tiger by the tail I was so determined to get it that I was sitting on the seat very focused and intent then hooray
I got it !!! I proudly displayed my trophy to my patient lady I stepped out off the truck. BUT my lady she no smile ...baby whats wrong I say she just looks at me and points to the old truck behind me and I turned to look and bugger me the biggest bloody snake iv ever seen slipped out frome behind the seat and onto the ground!!!!
holey crap batman ....... I looked at her and said honey I was ment to get this ..:-)

I finished the door hinges, ready to be installed in the doors. Worked on removing the undercoating on the front fenders. Slow Job!!

Washed the Harley and cleaned 3 months of stripped paint dust off of the floor. Maw's appreciates that!

haven't worked on the '70 for a while kinda starting a new project that ain't gona take just to long took all the parts from my suburban and packed them into the suburban shell and moved that into my 2nd shed and moved the 64 cab into the first shed then i got the suburbans 4x4 frame all sandblasted yesterday had to be somewhat fast was sleeting so now the frame sits in the shed sandblasted with frozen water and sand on it waitin to unthaw and fresh coat of paint and then the 64 will get mounted on it was gona do it today after work but got like 6 in. of snow on the ground and its still snowing (school was closed today) so ya kinda going insane with nothing to do

Nothing this weekend - took the teen daughter car shopping Sat.

Well let's see... How jealous can you guys get...

I took the 46 out for the regular Sun. morning breakfast cruise here in town. It was a tad cold w/out a heater, but it was still a blast to roar down the road.

Drove the newer of my 52's around the area a bit. Kinda refreshing since it has heat.

Put the older of the 52's up for sale last night on E-Bay. First time I've attempted that. Hope it all works out well. I really want a coupe or sedan that will hold the whole family and some friends.

Best part of the weekend... Car club I belong to was invited to a private showing of a private car collection here in CO. This gentleman has just over 300 cars. He opens it every year or two for a couple of hours only, and you have to belong to one of the selected/invited car clubs to get in.

Probably the most varied collection I've ever seen. He's got a couple of AD trucks, a beautiful Diamond T, and about anything else you might imagine.

His collection includes a white Rolls limo that was previously owned and made famous by John Lennon. Race cars, VW's, Corvette's, a whole slew of 30's Lincolns and Cadillac's, and several 30-60's muscle cars and converts.

Kinda neat, all of his cars are driven. When I went in, there was a sign-up sheet, stating all of the cars were driven no less than 4 times per year. The sign-up sheet was to volunteer to be one of the individuals that would exercise his cars.

YES... I signed up!

Here's a bit of trivia for you true CAR-NUTS! I didn't know the answer, until I saw it in his collection.

What car came from the factory with a wooden front axle?

By the way, I'm working on posting some pictures in the next couple of days. I'll let you know when I've got them out there.

Good weather over the weekend in South Florida, what I used to call a Tiki bar day when I was still pub crawling.

Re-packed the front wheel bearings on BillyBob and discovered that the passenger side king pin was going south . . . and the fun never ends!

Sunday evening bad storms rolled across SW Missouri. My brother Tom called me and said he and his family were evacuating and heading to Crane as a twister was sighted about 10 miles SW of his farm. This was around 9:30pm.

Here in Springfield MO we had lot's of golfball size hail and winds.

About 11 pm, Tom calls me and says he lost his barn, garage/shop and stable.

Luckily he and his family are ok but their place is a mess.

Scary thing... The guy from our car club that pointed it out to me, (George), told me he remembered seeing them running around when he was a kid.

When I asked him how long ago that was, he said... "That car's only 10 years older than I am!"

Gotta really appreciate everything "Ol-George" has been through.

I was gonna guess Brush. I saw one at a car show in Montana back in August. It was one of those shows where they close off the main street in town. Friday night they cruised & did burnouts. Then Saturday was the show. Really cool. The guy cruised the Brush all Friday & gave rides to people. He said it was a 1911 Roadster. I have a couple of pics, but I can't get them on here.

Funny you ask because this weekend was a "clean up and regroup" weekend after spending the last two weekends disassembling my entire truck. I have removed every piece of sheet metal, mechanical component and wiring harness from the truck, the inside has been gutted, and if I can ever find 3 more willing bodies at the same time, I will lift the cab off and take it to be repaired and sandblasted.

Did you know you can fit 75% of a 1950 3100 through a 2'x4' opening in the ceiling for storage in the attic?

I put in an aftermarket temperature gauge, until I can get the original back in working condition. The needle is busted and I got a chance to take some pictures of my hacked speaker installation and sent them to FORTKNOX as he has the same year truck as I do.

Not a thing.

I didn't even start the old girl up.
