Was approched by a guy selling pills. NO not drugs but a fuel additive called Bio performance fuel additive. (It smelled like camphor) was supposed to give you 20+% better mileage. I dismissed him as a quack and then looked it up on the internet. couldn't find anything bad about the product. (they also have a web site mybpbiz.com) I havent checked that yet but probably all b.s. He gave some pills to a friend that was listining and he is going to try them out. He wants my friend to sell it, says he is making $3000 a week. Any one have any info?

Haven't heard of the product, but red flag that he's trying to pyramid your friend. Network marketing scares me (there are some legit networkers, but most are only a hair above than Ponzi schemes).

will wait 4-5 days to see how it works on friends car. If it is to good to be true it usually is is my thought.

Hey Red, I haven't visited their web site yet. You have more than I do. I didn't know there was a religious connection. Maybe devine intervention will make my truck run better.(it need it)

My friend is doing "bio fuel"....he has installed several units now suing the old fast food grease and using it to fire his heat system. Pills, naw, give them to the donkeys!!

Talked to some folks about this extremely skeptical myself. went to the site looked like a bunch of hooey to me also.

Might stiffen up your suspension or other weak links. Just Google the bio fuel thing and you get additional info. They don't say anything good or bad about it surprisingly.

I have heard of these pills for the gas tank.I don't know much about them.I came across a article that adding acetone to your gas tank will help your fuel mileage.They also talk about those pills.Here is a link to the article,what do you guys think ?

Well Frank, some people around here are still pushing the thing. I think however, that they are caught up in the pyramid marketing aspect. My friend that tried it no longer is using or selling them.

It looks like they don't help much.With the added expense of the pills or acetone,you don't save much,if any.Wonder how many people have tried to get there medical insurance to pay for the pill ? HA HA !!!

I sell it by the gallon for about $4.

You mix it with your gas one gallon of this stuff for every four gallons of gas.

A few years ago we had some quacks pushing this "Platinum Vapour" injection crap thing that was supposed to give you XX% better mileage for only $280 if I recall , it was some little cannister that connected to your air intake . I always run when I hear any of this kind of stuff , seems kind of amazing that after 100 years only NOW somebody is coming up with a better way ????

Back in the late "70's I worked at a machine shop. The owner there fixed a device on his car that would (for lack of a better word) inhale vapor from a canister he filled with water.

He had some type orifice in the line between the canister a vacuum port on the intake. He drove that old Chrylser 318 forever wtih that, and swore it did better on fuel. Been too long ago for me to remember just how it was supposed to work, but he got the idea from somewhere else, and devised one for his car.

Those were called water injection. They were very popular for cabs and fleet cars in the 40's. If nothing else, they gave your valves and top end a good steam cleaning as you drove. Some used the same idea to suck Marvel Mystery Oil into the intake. Good gizmos but not really that good. Smitty

Yeah, that pill guy was around here too. Couldn't make myself put 'em in either my wife's car or the old chevy, so just swallowed a couple. Sure enough, rode my bicycle 2 miles further today than I did yesterday! They must work, eh?

I wonder if they make a suppository version for horses?

Water injection was widely used on aircraft in WWII

I know this machinist swore by it. Said his car went from about 17 mpg to about 24. But that has been 30 years ago.

When the weather is cool and humid, my car seems to do much better.

Water injections are still verry popular and are now made by Edelbrock and other known companys.

Everything is computer controlled now with Big PSI pumps and special jets and all.

Lot´s of the turbo guys have them so they can advance ignition without ping.

Just type Water Injection in Google or Ebay.

I got 2 vintage sets. One is in my 41 Sedan. But more as a decoration in the moment because it was not made for a dual setup. I´m planning to modify it for the offy intake and let you know how it works.

campher is not good for a gasoline engine, period.

One thing to consider regarding ALL of the so-called fuel saving devices.....the "gas-guzzler" tax.

If any of this stuff works, why wouldn't the new car manufacturers use it on vehicles that are subject to the gas guzzler tax? :rolleyes:

The only aftermarket fuel saving device that I have seen in 40 plus years of working on gasoline engines that works is readily available in your local supermarket.....by the dozen. They come in both brown and white colors. Place one between your foot and the footfeed. If you don't break the device, you will save fuel. :p
