For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 1,682 | So my wife eMailed a picture of my '46 to a freind of hers and she said, "Hey! That looks like the Jeepers Creepers truck!!" The whaa? Well a little research with my good pal google revealed that there was a horror movie called Jeepers Creepers where this demon style guy would drive around in an old 40's Chevy COE and kill people. Now of course my '46 isn't a COE, but it got me to thinking, "I wonder what other movies an old 'bolt can be seen in?"
an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

It is set in the late 50s and involves a mechanic and his lifelong dream to meet Marilyn Monroe. A lot of the movie features the mechanic's AD tow truck.
That fact alone makes it one of my favourite movies.

It currently resides near Mardela Springs MD along side Route 50 west still sporting the stars and stripes paint job though it's badly faded now. It was just shown breifly as a backyard relic. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | There's an AD Bigbolt in "Meet The Parents" too, Scott | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 60 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 60 | I remembered seeing a bunch of old Bolts in the movie The bridges of Madison County so I rewatched it. I'm afraid the dialogue in that movie would drive me to go greivous harm to something!!!

Old rough truck they put some quick red and black paint on....Just like watchin the 'Dukes' or 'Fall Guy', the vehicle is jumped, bends and is straight again in the next frame... Did you catch the '46 pulling the 'lion trailer' in 'Second Hand Lion'?

Then click on trivia and type in chevrolet. I started out cutting and pasting what I found, but there was lots..... not limited to Stovebolts though.

Clint Eastwood -- ooo, I like.
Scott Bakula --- aaa, I like in Quantum Leap. Now that show has some neat old trucks and things (depending on where he jumps in to).
I'm afraid I usually watch thrillers. Haven't noticed any Big Bolts in them. Usually, guns, knives, screaming people, scary faces, spookey places, etc.

I just watched "Take this job and shove it!". In the beginning there is a very nice 49+ stake bed with big meaty rear tires. The guy gets out of the passenger side and looks at a Mercedes and asks what the car is going to grow up to be when it gets older, (response) "A year of your salary friend!". Great show and music. Nice Lincoln with suicide doors too. This was BIG FOOT's Cameo, when it was still a REAL TRUCK! I think on the DVD my pal has.. who only bought the movie cuz he thought the truck was cool... they talk about the truck - apparently the front body/cab/clip is a RIO/REO(I think it's the second)... they built 2 of them for the movie I think.. looked like small block engines in them - anyhoo.

It was pretty cool. Not in the movies but in the war ... Is that close? Plus, I wanted to add it someplace on the site so people might notice that a file lost from 2001 has now been found. Sheeze ... Peg
