Good on ya! You stuck with the problem long enough to solve it. Sometimes it's necessary to remove the gauge cluster and (gently) bend the ammeter needle until it centers up on zero with no current passing through the gauge. Otherwise, just get accustomed to where the "no charge/no discharge" point is, and go from there. Other than being a minor annoyance, the meter failing to center won't cause any problems.
