Like you, my ammeter was hooked up wrong. Jerry came to my rescue regarding my generator and confirming my gauge hookup. His diagnosis of my charging problem was right on - the brushes in my generator were shot. Didn't have time to learn how to tweek a generator, so I had a shop replace them and turn the armature. Now my generator is generating and my ammeter is metering.
