As I said the last time we started flinging feces about this subject, I use Rotella T in my engine, because it has the "old" levels of ZDDP in it.
It may well be money wasted.
But what's $10 for oil twice a year versus a new cam, and the time spent dismantling and repairing an engine? I know that my time is worth quite a bit of money, and the time I'd spend tearing down my 216 would get very expensive indeed.
For me, the (perceived) cost to benefit ratio is dramatically skewed in the direction of the slightly more expensive oil. If you're confident that you won't suffer any engine damage, then run whatever you like.
