There was two gaskets there to set the gear clearance is the usual deal. Paper ones are made in several thicknesses also to make this easier. When you do set the clearance, roll it thru a full turn of the gears checking periodically, some areas may be tighter than others. Given a choice, loose is better than tight. Doug
