Ok...got the front of PTO off tonight. There were two gaskets in there...somewhere along the line they doubled up. This wasn't one old one new, they were both the same.
Dave (moneypit) is right, it is a Muncie. Now I have a part number to...PT A2HW. I'll have to look it up.
The bolts were in very loose...I put barely any pressure on them with the rachet and they started spinning. That doesn't seem so right.
I'll definitly make some calls tomorrow to the people Dave mentioned.

ps...after getting it off I also ran my fingers around inside the tranny...no bits (whew)...only some metalic sludge which I'll get out of there before buttoning this all up.
