Count me amongst the Ranks ! I bought this 1950 Chev 3800 one ton Panel truck about two years ago from a farm family in Virginia and hauled it home to Conover , NC . It had been sitting in a field for 12 years , but not really in that bad a shape considering . I had full intention of building a rat rod from a Panel truck as I was impressed by several I had seen at various cruise ins and car shows around my area . But not this Baby and am keeping it origional !! Upon closer inspection when I got it home , I saw that pretty well everything was on it and had good potential to fix up and keep it as she left the factory in 1950 . Got the 216 engine running without too much trouble ; new brake lines and rebuilt the cylinders etc ; new gas tank ; new regulator and got the generator rebuilt ; new exhaust system ; rewired it completely . I had to buy some 16" wheels with rubber to lower the height by 3" so it would fit into my garage . I still have the 17" split rims with old tires on , but dont know if I will hang onto them .
I have just started on the front end and am installing new king pins and cleaning up the springs ,shackles ,tie rod ends etc .
Just about ready for the road and then it will be a paint job and some rechroming !! Great fun alround . Some recent pictures here with Photobucket , and hope they are visible .
