I know almost nothing about building a 283 engine. (I am a "Diesel Guy")
I want to get around 300 to 315 ish HP from the 283 that I pulled out of the '66 parts donor truck.
I will be removing the Powerglide & hooking it up to a 700R4 (pre '88 years)
What I also want from this is a good "lumpy" sounding cam.
What I have been thinking of is an Edelbrock preformer series intake, Edelbrock carb, COPM Cams "Thumpr" series cam (Part#12-600-4)a HEI distributor, and maybe some headders. But like I said, what I NEED is to talk with someone who has real world experiance with the 283 who can help me. So any input you all might have on this would be most greatly appreciated!
