These days, you can buy a 12 volt alternator built inside an old Delco Remy generator wired to a modern electronic voltage regulator built inside an old points type voltage regulator. Cannot tell the difference.

However, with old trucks, you can tell this difference between a Ford, a GMC and a Chevy a mile out. Those modern trucks and cars out there today, I cannot tell which end is the front and which end is the rear; completely baffled.
