all great suggestions above, I do disagree with the comment on the stroked motors, if you have a 283 block that is from 59 on you have no problem putting in a 327 crank, we have built 2 of these at the engine shop in the last 2 months guys are using them for rock climbing competition, they have a good torque band and as far as over heating with a stroker motors and 400chevy's that is a myth, if you go the 283 stroker route turns it into a 316, we used crower cams and venolia pistons and as above dont go crazy on the cam if street is what it will be used for..
