At the Syr Nationals this year I parked next to a man with a 54 Chevy 1/2 ton who cut down his orig chevy steering wheel so his stomach could fit behind the wheel. He found a smaller outer wheel he liked, cut up the orig steering wheel, rewelded, epoxied and painted. Real nice, looks stock til you realize its smaller. He had the orig solid front axel however had put in the needle bearings in the front end. Steered nice he said.
