What I meant by having the calipers reversed is having the left caliper on the right side of the car, and vice versa.

I recently put new calipers on a Chrysler, and they had no indication on them as to which was left and right. As usual, having a 50-50 chance at getting it right meant I guessed wrong, so mine were reversed. What happened? Well, I couldn't get any pedal. Bleeding got a little fluid, but it didn't bring up the pedal. Perhaps that's what you're up against? Unlikely that your calipers aren't marked, though. Like I said, a real longshot.
