Hy RATRODKING, there should be no pressure or fluid in or around the switch activating rod. It sounds like you have invented something to hold the valve in position while you bleed your front brakes, bravo. Now as to your leaky banjo fittings, do both calipers leak? I've seen both types of calipers over the years, some with concentric rings around the ports, and some plain ones. I've seen both types hold pressure, usually if you have a leak, you have some type of damage in the seat area, or a damaged washer, hope that helps, and keep us informed please.
