I definitely do not share that opinion and someday if I convert my truck to 12 V, I will use a resistor. By the way, the value of your radio would normally be higher by keeping the original configuration. For the AD radio, a resistor of 1 ohm and around 40 watts works well. I don't know the current draw of your radio but if you know that, I can suggest a value.
