Don't pry nor force it. Let the alcohol sit there a few hours. Then you can reach in with your thumb and press in different directions on the pump bonnet (cover). Usually that will let it come loose. The diaphragm is made of rubber and it bonds to the float bowl and the bonnet and sort of acts like glue.
