This is the new ignition assembly I was talking about. Sorry...I thought a link to it existed in my first post but there isn't one. This will give you a new ignition switch, 2 new keys and a new tumbler/cylinder.

In hopes of making this more understandable, please look below. This is an ignition switch...solely the switch part. This is what people here are saying you need. Your cylinder/tumbler fits inside that and your key when inserted lets the cylinder turn, activating the switch part. The switch part is what's bad in yours. If your new cylinder makes things work for a while, that's nice and all, but it is more of an interesting coincidence than anything else I'm afraid.
