Larry, I was also able to use the orignal saddles, I like your idea with the emery cloth. I might go back and clean mine up a bit. I still need to replace the U-Bolts before I am done with the axle. I was able to pick up some that were 2-9/16 x 14"x 5/8" for mock up but will replace them before were done. I have not found any of the correct size yet so let me know if you find a supplier.
