My biggest issue was enough open space on the axle tube to do it. Ultimately, I abandoned the clamps and just used my hand to hold 2 longer pcs side by side from underneath. Rolling the saddle forward and back around the tube seemed to work best, as opposed to side to side along the length of the tube. Everything wanted to move when I tried that.
