Not the style of lug nuts I was going to use, but I have found that McGard lug nuts are USA made.

Looking up a '78 P30 yields a McGard 64806, but they are TALL and in chrome. Looks like a black version is also available 64816.
A search for a "78 C30 yields the same results.

I believe what I am using would be an equivalent of a Budd 41233, but I find no retailers for it when doing a Google search. That is also the same as a Dorman 611-053, which may be what you got from NAPA and didn't like.

The GMC number appears to be 334387 and is apparently available as it let me add 32 of them to my cart, but no idea on country of origin.
