Denny, I hear you loud and clean. A good friend of mine who runs a frontend/tire shop turns ALL new rotors before he installs them on a car. It may be just the slightest amount ground off but over the years he has found doing this to be well worth the time. I myself have seen them turn some new drums on various occasions over the past 8 or 10 years and its amazing what I've seen......but now surprises to you and me!
