I kinda feel like I am repeating myself but here goes. You are mixing two different assemblies here. The tracked weatherstrip uses the floating bow. It just ends at the cardboard it does not tuck or attach to anything. The screw in bow finishes with the "t's" but the weatherstrip is different than what you have. It sounds like you have late 49' cardboard which is different than the earlier version. In light of the interference with the welded in bow have you thought about removing it?
