It looks like someone either added the early '49 center support bracket to the roof (my bet), or someone added the windlace channel around the door opening.
You have two choices:
1) Go with the floating center for the headliner.
2) Remove the c-channel and try to find a good used screw-on set of early style windlace retainers (hard to find), and new early style windlace.
What shape was your floor board in when you started? Early '49s had two extra floor mat retaining buttons near the seat riser toward the outside.
