I had a long conversation with Jeff from Bowtie Bits. I think Jeff has cleared up the confusion on the headliner center bow. Jeff told me that 5 years ago he had a very late production 1949 truck in his shop with the same configuration I have for the headliner and center bow. The key is that it is a VERY late production '49 3100 and that the screw in center bow was used up until 1950. The problem I have with the screw on center bow I removed from the truck is that at some point in time someone cut the ends of the center bow. Why....we don't know. The proper screw in center bow for a VERY late production '49 slips under the channel type wind lace just as the floating bow does. He measured the screw in center bow I purchase from him and it is 1 1/2" longer on each end, which should well slip under the channel type wind lace. Jeff also told me from what he has seen over the years is that the lower cab wind lace on the 1947-mid 1949 trucks screwed in from the sides and the VERY late model 1949- 1954 screws in from the top and is attached with the step sill plate? I'm getting there. Hope this info is of some help!
