I am posting this question here, because I don't think this is an electrical issue.

Is there a way to repair or replace the copper line from the temperature sensing unit to the gauge?

I have a couple of the gauges from my collection of 41-46 parts with the copper line cut off. I was just wondering if there was a fix.

No, there is a gas inside the tube that is on the temp gauge that cannot be replaced once it is released.

I know this has been discussed before but here's what I remember.

The tube has a bulb on the end filled with ether (I believe) and some of the vendors offer repair services for the gauges and can also change the length of the capillary tube if needed.

Who does it? A search on this site could probably find the names of repair shops.

Jeff

A fellow over in Greenville can do it but I think the charge is around 90 bucks. Heck, you can probably buy a repop for that!

That is a ridiculous idea. I hope no one takes you seriously. This site is for real ideas, not jokes.

Sorry to all those who would plumb in a water heater pop off. That was a joke. I will go back to my serious mode. My "real idea" is to buy an aftermarket unit.

You could give the information in the attached a try, your gage is already bad so what's to lose?
