Frame and front end sandblasted and looking good. Tomorrow morning I'll start with the paint. After that she starts going back together!!! Can't wait to start putting things together instead of taking them apart.

Haven't been able to do much lately but I did cut some patches to cover the clutch hole as well as the old starter hole. I also put patches over the e-brake hole and the dimmer switch as I changed the location a little.... and of coarse I use a strip of the 3M adhesive weather stripping to put a little bead around the patches so no water or anything else could get caught under them.

Due to lack of funds i've decided to use my existing grill,it was pretty beaten up,with an 'Elvisesque' curled lip (bent grill bars).
I stripped out the offending bars and pounded out the dents as best I could.
Due to the complex shapes I ended up sanding the whole thing by hand!
Got it painted yesterday and re-assembled it this morning.

Thanks DAD,like I said in the picture it wouldn't pass close inspection,but it'll do 'til I either replace it or locate a couple of better bars.

Worked on getting a switch installed for the electric fan. didn't go so well, wrong size drill bit, odd angle and switch wouldn't fit. and very hot and sweat puddling in my glasses, tight quarters under dash. was laid up for 4 days and missed work for muscle spasms and leery about getting in an awkward position. want to hear more?

John, nice work on the grille....but I would have expected nothing better than your best. I think you'll like it painted.

Ron, s l o w l y, very slowly. Got to plan those moves for the weekend...or your days off. I feel you pain, literally, as I did some additional work under my dash. Took me two days to recover to.....

When I was 19 getting under the dash for repair/installation of stuff was nothing. I think I must have been a contortionist. Now almost 50 yeas later I need to take the seat out for that kind of thing. We hope you're feeling better now.

Replumbed the brake system on my '70 C-10. New master, wheel cylinders and line set. Now I need to get rid of the spongy/low pedal.

In that pic you can see the lower bars are still a bit lumpy.

I read what you did then looked at the pic. Your post said you painted it but the picture looked like real chrome. It's funny how when others see the results of our work they don't see the warts and pimples we can't help but see.
From 8,000+ miles it looks remarkably "perfect".

I slid off the seat awhile back and down between the shifter and the seat and could not get enough leverage to get up and i live alone, thought i would be there for ever.

Don't forget your Medic Alert Button next time, and a couple of sandwiches would be good as well. lol

For tough jobs under the dash now, I take both the seat and the gearshift lever out. I feel your pain, We b Old.

I got my turn signal buzzer permanently wired under the dash...not as loud now. I also finally got the turn signal device secured to the steering column. The hose clamp like thingy that came with it never did work right, so I removed it and used an actual hose clamp threaded through the signal devise.

Happy now. I can signal with aplomb. Things light up on the dash buzzing sounds, the whole works.

Got the underside of the drivers fender painted with POR-15 i'm not planning a cover coat due to it's UV sensitivity.
I'm relying on the fact if the sun gets the underside i've got bigger problems!

WARNING: How many of us follow instructions to the letter.....?
Due to the cooler temperatures were having here at the moment I stupidly kept the garage closed to keep the heat in while I was painting.
Consequences....I feel like cr*p this morning,my chest is tight and I feel really groggy.

Placed shoulder belts in my 55, replacing steering link and having front end aligned tomorrow. Will be road worthy soon.

I guess your signature line of "I've definately got this truck thing in my blood ..." is both literally and figuratively correct now.

One of those $30.00 3M half face reusable respirator masks is worth its weight in gold. I even use it when I am sanding. Much more comfortable than the paper dust masks and it doesn't fog up your safety glasses either.

Be carefull out there! .. building a truck is a good time. Having the "doc" rebuild you, not so much.

I kept having issues with the HID Headlights with the lamps burning out so I changed them over to good ol Halogens and installed some chrome half moon covers, I really like the new look.

The most offensive carcinogenic chemical in many modern paints are cyanoacrylates. These chemicals can enter a body via respiration and through exposed skin. A cheap respirator has minimal protective value (but, I use one when I am doing a small POR paint job - no harm done and it may be beneficial).

For those of you who fret about not taking precautions (non-daily painters), this government study make you feel better (let's assume these scientists would be government lackey alarmists).

Replaced my 57 3100 Motor Mounts

Replaced the motor mounts this weekend. The truck fought it, but after jacking the engine up twelve different ways, wrapping a strap around it to roll it just so, and holding my mouth just right, I got the bolts into the rear mounts.

...Only to find that one of the transmission links hits the top of the mount...shaved some rubber off the mount and wiggled the trans as much as possible and it eventually felt clear.

Test drove 'Bill' and everything seemed okay. Reverse may be a bit crunchy, but I may be feeling ghosts in the machine. Could be the terrain, too, as I live on a gravel road, but it just seems a bit "off." I will need to check the full travel of the reverse link this weekend, with someone in the cab.

I haven't really noticed a smoother ride, but the engine does seem a bit quieter. Or maybe I was looking for that and made it so.

Finally got the VIN form signed off by my local PD for the 55.1 parts truck. Now I can go apply for a title.

My Wheels Vintique came in today. I dropped them off at the paint shop. After gross prodding from my wife and others who would like to see the truck sit a bit higher off the floor, I bought 16" wheels and 235/10-16 tires. I hope it doesn't look like a pimpmobile. But if mama's happy we're all happy.

Got the passenger side front fender painted underneath with POR-15,and YES, I was wearing a mask!

I'm aware of POR-15s UV sensitivity,I just didn't know how quickly this reaction took place.

In the 4 days my truck has been outside the garage the exposed topside of my chassis has started to turn chalky,and it's not even been that sunny,not a big deal but I didn't think it could happen so fast.

I know UV rays can penetrate cloud cover,so I guess i'll just need to get a move on with the bed wood!

I intalled my new wiper arms and blades. I finished painting my windshield trim. I'm now ready to install my headliner and visors. Hope I can get this done tonight. I also preped my lower door hinge covers and seat approns. These are ready for paint now. I will be painting them the same color as the truck. Getting closer!!!

Changed out the 3.73 S-10 rearend for a 3.42 Camaro posi rearend in my 53 AD. I can really tell the differance, even got the brakes bled and adjusted. Now I can get back to work on the burbs!
