Hello everyone, allow me to introduce myself.

I am the newest owner of a 1958 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside shortbed. It is equipped with a 283 and 3spd manual trans!

I picked up the truck a couple weeks ago after spying it in a field one day.
I talked to the owner of the truck and asked him if he was going to do anything with it.
He said that he would probably not get around to workin on it and he said, " If you want it, you can have it!"
It was free! He proceeded to tell me that he brought the truck from Arizona to Texas back in the late 70's.

It needs a lot of work, and I probably bit of more than I can chew, but at least I now have an old truck!
It is missing the radiator, and starter. If anyone has any of these parts sittin around please let me know.

I will post pictures after I get a little more savvy on posting pics here.

Welcome to the Bolt. On the left side of the page toward the bottom, it tells how to post pictures. Basically, you can't post them here. You have to put them on something like Photobucket, then post a link to them.

nailhead, Your one lucky man. Price was right, it was close by and I'm sure you'll chew it up one bite at a time. Let us know how we can help. Lots and lots of info. For the stuff you need it'd be better to make a post in the "Parts Wanted" forum.

....there is some good places to buy a NEW radiator at a good price and the starter should be available from the local parts house. With your model and a good parts man most of the mechanical parts, if not all of them, can probably be purchased locally at a good price and no shipping.
Keep us posted. I like the twin eye headlights.

Hi Nailhead,a warm welcome from Scotland!
You're in good company here, the Stovebolt has many of your fellow statesmen, not to mention a fair few 'outsiders'.

I see you got your truck for the best price,so what's your plans?
You've got the combined knowledge over over 30,000 folks here so between us I'm sure we'll get your truck rolling again!

Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

I have so many ideas what I would love to do with this truck.

It is very rough!
The good thing was that it did come with an extra bed!

I would love to throw in a 364, or 425 nailhead! In place of the 283 I am Leaning more toward the 364!
I am aware of the steering shaft clearance issues in these trucks!
