I am the newest owner of a 1958 Chevrolet Apache Fleetside shortbed. It is equipped with a 283 and 3spd manual trans!
I picked up the truck a couple weeks ago after spying it in a field one day. I talked to the owner of the truck and asked him if he was going to do anything with it. He said that he would probably not get around to workin on it and he said, " If you want it, you can have it!" It was free! He proceeded to tell me that he brought the truck from Arizona to Texas back in the late 70's.
It needs a lot of work, and I probably bit of more than I can chew, but at least I now have an old truck! It is missing the radiator, and starter. If anyone has any of these parts sittin around please let me know.
I will post pictures after I get a little more savvy on posting pics here.

Basically, you can't post them here. You have to put them on something like Photobucket, then post a link to them. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | nailhead, Your one lucky man. Price was right, it was close by and I'm sure you'll chew it up one bite at a time. Let us know how we can help. Lots and lots of info. For the stuff you need it'd be better to make a post in the "Parts Wanted" forum.
....there is some good places to buy a NEW radiator at a good price and the starter should be available from the local parts house. With your model and a good parts man most of the mechanical parts, if not all of them, can probably be purchased locally at a good price and no shipping. Keep us posted. I like the twin eye headlights. | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Hi Nailhead,a warm welcome from Scotland! The good thing was that it did come with an extra bed! I would love to throw in a 364, or 425 nailhead! In place of the 283 I am Leaning more toward the 364! I am aware of the steering shaft clearance issues in these trucks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 818 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 818 | welcome to a experience of lifetime rebuilding your chevvy you will love it from australia i hope you enjoy
