1950 3800 1 ton, 235 with SM420 4 speed. Down to the frame, just about ready to put her back together.

'53 3800-Was my grandfathers, and his fathers before that. I drug it out of the woods with the wheels sliding, and have been working on it about 5 years. Trying very hard to drive it back to my grandfathers house, while he is still there.

'49 3800-bought it for parts sight unseen, but when it got here it was too nice to part out, so now its sitting in the back of the barn, waiting.

i got a 59 3800 with a 283 and now a 350 trubo auto and power brakes used to be an old brush fire truck in kansas it's down to the frame but comming up alittle at a time

We have a 59 3800, 235, 4spd. It's patiently waiting for some attention. Runs, but not well. Need to go through it, but there's hope.

'62 one ton driver with a 283 and a tired flatbed. Hoping the replace the bed wood this winter and maybe find a 60-61 hood.

'57 3800 with 29k original miles. Spent it's entire life on a wildlife refuge near the Mississippi river, used only to haul wheat raised on the refuge that was used for trapping woodducks. Few dings and very little rust. Will eventually put a 9' stepside bed on it when I have time to devote to it.

Here is my C-30 Off craigslist this summer was busy saw it paid $450. never really looked at it much lady claimed her late husband bought new . Got to looking hard at it and realized quickly that all of the flex brake hoses are new. Oil is as clean as bottled water. Antifreeze is bright green, so I dumped the gas tank out, put a carb kit in it, purged the fuel line, dropped a battery in it, and spun it over. It had no fire. Put a new set of made-in-the-USA points and it fired right up. It runs well. The locking ring tires don't look that dangerous, but it would appear that the outer ring holds the inner ring in place. The only time you would risk injury would be if the inner ring was not completely seated. Working on getting my nerve up. May slide it under the truck and hook an air hose to it. Let me know what you think, as I look forward to tinkering with this truck a lot.

Dado, we have similar trucks as mine's a '62 C30. When I picked mine up a few years ago it had later model one piece rims on the front but still had the lock ring rims in back. I needed new tires in back and the tire shop found one of the rims and lock ring had rusted real bad and was too pitted to safely use so I bought another pair of later model rims for the outside wheels. I kept the lock ring rims for the inside wheels. The tire guys weren't crazy about working on those older rims and inflated the new tires in a cage as a safety precaution.

So be careful, you may have a rusted out rim that isn't obvious at first.

Yea that's pretty good advice was planning on a good wire wheel cleaning first checking tubes as well . Those tires are 700x18 is that what you have on yours ?

'59 3800 235 SM420 dual wheels with flatbed and PTO powered dump. I purchased it last year in Mississippi and have found the dump bed to be very handy. As purchased, the 235 runs great, the steering is tight, the brakes are good, and the body is in good shape except for a little rust on the front fenders. I have found a set of no rust fenders that will be installed when I get around to painting it. My truck gets lots of positive commments from the country folks in my community. However, the city types just don't "get it". They think there is something wrong with me for driving "that old truck" instead of my crewcab 2500 duramax.

I have a 56 chevy 3800 that I'm finishing a bed for and a 57 chevy 3800 with the original 283 and a 10' bed. i drive it all the time.

I have a 46 (built in 47) Open Express. I put in a T5 behind a 235 with dual intake and Fenton headers.

Still working on the sheet metal.

1949 3800' just got it back on the road after an engine overhaul.

216 with 4 speed, hydraulic hoist, 6 volt system. Pics are in my signature block, however it does have a new set off tongue and groove stakesides on the bed, and the cab has been cleaned and waxed.

1949 Chevy 3800 dually. It's unrestored, running and driving. It's stock, except for the 1955 235 motor and 12v. Pictures are in the link in my signature.

If y'all look on the Stovebolt.com home page, as well as in the column on the left of this page (and all pages of the forums), you will see the Flagship of Stovebolt.com -- Peggy's and my '49 3800 pickup. Mostly original and unrestored. It's an excellent driver and we really enjoy taking it to shows and cruise-ins.

This winter, I hope to do a brake job and a tuneup on it.

So one tonners be proud -- The "Uberbolt" is a one ton!

I have a non-running 1946 tonner bought off fellow bolter John Branch. It currently resides sideways against the front wall of my garage. I even built an enclosed landing/closet to the main house around the truck.

Over the summer and fall I've accumulated all the parts necessary to get it running. I also have most of the parts to reseal the axles and put new brakes on it. During the Christmas break I hope to get it running with the aid of my young sons. I bought them some socket sets as motivation!

Here's my 50ish GMC one Ton. 270 Engine, with a 4 speed.
The truck was revived a little by a previous owner so it's had some paint and body work at some point. The first thing I did was lose the terrible bed it had on it. Not sure what kind of bed will end up back on it but I need to get it up and running again first.

I have a 50 3800 Deluxe cab, with a 9 foot bed, original 216, SM 420... IN the last year i have replaced the third member with a "No Spin" 4.10 locker gear set, replaced the brake Master with a tandem system (still ironing it out) re did the electrics throughout, 12V alternator, wiring etc. new window seals all around. Its my daily driver and soon i'll be driving it back to Colorado with its new 261!

Thought i would include a picture of my old 1949 Chevy 1 ton. It still has the original 4 speed tranny and 216 engine that runs like a dream.

1947 1 ton. 9 1/2 foot bed. 248 GMC.

1952 GMC 9430 one ton. Only had her a month and have most of the body off with only the cab and drive train remaining. Just verified that it has the factory motor which made me happy. Hope to keep it as stock as possible. As I tear it down my list of needs keeps on groing.

1952 GMC 253 - just picked this up - 5 window cab, dual, flat bed.
all oroginal, interior decent enough - one exception, floor boards remind me of the the like Fred Flintstone braking method. ....just stick your heels straight down and dig in to stop...
looking for shop that can replace all the floor boards...GMC red and white

71 C30 157"wb 350 4 spd ps pb white with blue int. 12' flat bed. New duals with turbos to the rear. Paint, Int, grills, bumper and Spicer aux tranny to come. Holds 3 cords of wood.

Sounds like a nice truck.

Keep us posted on the Aux Trans. I would be interested in more about it.

My '52 (see signature) was brought to CA from the PO's family ranch in Wyoming. It came with a really strange ranch bed that was all cobbed together with a lot of scrap metal and was probably great for mending cattle fences but not much else. I pulled the bed off and gave it to a fellow stovebolter to make a welding trailer, had a metal frame built by another friend, and built myself a flatbed from recycled doug fir 2x10s. She's got great door art from the original family ranch construction company, and the original '52 babbit 235 still runs great. Love that old 1-ton.

I have a '46 1 ton, sitting outside (gulp, please don't throw rocks at me) waiting for me to finish other projects. It has the 9' long bed. Which brings me to an important question: Does anyone know what rear fenders should be on this truck, since I don't have any; do the 1/2 - 3/4 ton rears fit or are they supposed to be the ones for a panel truck? In my searching I don't want to buy the wrong ones, if I should ever happen upon any. Thanks.

dwreills, sorry to say the 1/2 (or 3/4) ton fenders are smaller. Apparently they were intended for the corresponding smaller wheels. The panel truck rear fender is more of a fender flare. Bedsides and rear fenders for the 9 foot bed are hard to find. Keep a close eye on the Truck Parts for Sale forum.

Dave51Chev: Thanks for responding; though the info makes me a bit more despondant, LOL. I might try to borrow a rear from a 1/2 ton to see how wrong it is. Maybe use as a pattern to stretch my own (a bit ambitious maybe). I'll try to watch the Parts forum. Unless somebody who reads this has some out there, (hint hint). If not for sale I'd rent them to measure and make a pattern from. Anybody?

Hey All, 57 Chevy 3800 1 ton flat bed 235. Runs and still waiting to be retored. Yahoo posted today that the old trucks with original rust patina are hot these days. Ole red will be waitng while.

I haven't posted about mine yet, so here it goes:

Mine is a '51 Chevy 3800 with a transplanted '53 216. Originally had a dilapidated cattle pen on the back, which is now gone. I'm planning on building a flatbed with stake-bed sides and wood tailgate.

Last summer, I purchased a 1951 1-Ton Panel Truck. It was mostly stripped, and I was buying it to use as a parts vehicle. The remaining rusty-holed shell met up with the Metal Scrapper.
