Ditto on that Jim, I'm planning a third brake light in the rear window as well. The bed roll LED turn signals are great too, despite their size they're really bright. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. Does molasses and water work? YES! I reloaded the vat with some more loose parts and now, need to prime and paint some items. John, I hadn't planned on the bedroll LED's because I thought of them as brake lights. However bright LED's as turn signals to augment the brake/turn lights is intriguing and something I think I may try to do. I have been thinking seriously about putting a third brake light in the rear window and will be interested in the details of how your install goes. | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 117 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 117 | I got the whole top sanded and the dents ready to repair. No problem Jim, our lighting regulations differ from the USA,click on my 'Ditto' link for an explanation,i've added a comment in reply to Erics remarks.... They were a bit pricey but my Missus got them as a present for me,and if they save me/us from being rear ended it'll be money well spent.

As I near the end of this Project have held off installing the running boards as they can be in the way of other work and I didn't want to risk any damage to them. How I have begun to try to figure out how I'm going to do this without scratching the paint. I think I'll have another cup of coffee.

Jim,I think I mentioned this before but I found it much easier to remove the rear fenders,it just gives you much more leeway, and don't forget the tape especially at the splash apron where it profiles the cab corner! Now after five and a half years I can see the finish line. I've only a few things to finish up and off we go: 1) get my 3600 hood emblem re-chromed 2) hang the bumpers 3) modify the cardboard glove box (air cond. evap. taking up space under dash) 4) seat belts 5) spare tire holder on bed 6) wheel clips for my hubcaps 7) oak bed rails 8) headliner and carpet 9) charge air 10) install hood and grill 11) make smokey burnout in driveway.

Napa had a replacement for $57.00 plus $18.00 core charge. Part # ray 244-9651 ...pic... ...pic... I could have saved some money if I just had it shipped to my house. Store charged $15.00 freight to pick it up in the store. NAPA on line shipping charge $7.50. (Fould that out later) | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | This seems to be a new wrinkle in NAPA's policy. I have a friend that will request a part from NAPA and if they don't have it in stock will ask them to order it. He knows the freight surcharge will be excessive so he doesn't return for the part. Some days later he will go to another local NAPA and request the same part which they look up and see it is at another local NAPA and will have it for him the next day with no shipping surcharges. I spent some time working on the strut arm that goes from the lower control and bolts behind the crossmember. I took it to the machine shop and had him drill out the end of it to a 5/8" 18thread and ordered me two new ends from Speedway to fasten it back to the crossmember... and picked me up some grade 8 bolts. I'll be on the road again, sooon. | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 438 | Yep it's winter and to get the '61 truck ready to sit all winter long, I checked the antifreeze, removed the battery, put ample amounts of d-con in the cab, duct taped the holes I didn't get around to patching this year, and covered it with a tarp. How sad, guess that means it's final, ... I mean what I did and didn't get accomplished this year on the truck. There is always next year to get more done. | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 38 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 38 | Huge progress today !

I did the passenger side first and it took 2 hours of fitting and grinding til it took the bolt, drivers side went in on the first try!!!! Didn't think I'd ever have shoulder belts in my 56 big back window. Next up new covers for the seat, and after I unpacked the kit from Jim Carters, my wife said "that looks like fun, can I help". Might be interesting.......
