Ditto on that Jim, I'm planning a third brake light in the rear window as well.

The bed roll LED turn signals are great too, despite their size they're really bright.

I used a '94-'09 GM 3rd Brake Light on my '65... fits just like it was made for it.

It's been about 3 weeks and I pulled my first batch of rusty, loose parts from my 10 gallon experimental de-rust vat;
A set of vent covers, 2 ash trays, headlight bucket assemblies, door latches, hood latch and battery tray.
Does molasses and water work? YES!
I reloaded the vat with some more loose parts and now, need to prime and paint some items.

John, I hadn't planned on the bedroll LED's because I thought of them as brake lights. However bright LED's as turn signals to augment the brake/turn lights is intriguing and something I think I may try to do.
I have been thinking seriously about putting a third brake light in the rear window and will be interested in the details of how your install goes.

No problem Jim, our lighting regulations differ from the USA,click on my 'Ditto' link for an explanation,i've added a comment in reply to Erics remarks....
They were a bit pricey but my Missus got them as a present for me,and if they save me/us from being rear ended it'll be money well spent.

Added the bed rails, but I’m still waiting on the bumper brackets. Called and they had a snafu and hadn’t shipped yet. They promised they would ship immediately. That’s all that’s keeping me from driving it………….

In modifying an old truck one must divide the Project into many smaller projects. As I near the end of this Project have held off installing the running boards as they can be in the way of other work and I didn't want to risk any damage to them.
How I have begun to try to figure out how I'm going to do this without scratching the paint. I think I'll have another cup of coffee. laalaa

Jim,I think I mentioned this before but I found it much easier to remove the rear fenders,it just gives you much more leeway, and don't forget the tape especially at the splash apron where it profiles the cab corner!
(Don't ask)

Spent the weekend doing bodywork. Decided on the smooth look so I welded up the cowl vents:

Passenger side
Drivers side

Installed license plate lights into the roll pan and then bolted up the roll pan. Also installed the '64 Impala tail lights.

After discovering a purchase mistake of the right side running-board splash apron, I ordered the correct one yesterday.
Now after five and a half years I can see the finish line. I've only a few things to finish up and off we go:
1) get my 3600 hood emblem re-chromed
2) hang the bumpers
3) modify the cardboard glove box (air cond. evap. taking up
space under dash)
4) seat belts
5) spare tire holder on bed
6) wheel clips for my hubcaps
7) oak bed rails
8) headliner and carpet
9) charge air
10) install hood and grill
11) make smokey burnout in driveway.

Changed the starter on the 50.

Napa had a replacement for $57.00 plus $18.00 core charge. Part # ray 244-9651
...pic...
...pic...

I could have saved some money if I just had it shipped to my house. Store charged $15.00 freight to pick it up in the store.
NAPA on line shipping charge $7.50. (Fould that out later)

This seems to be a new wrinkle in NAPA's policy. I have a friend that will request a part from NAPA and if they don't have it in stock will ask them to order it. He knows the freight surcharge will be excessive so he doesn't return for the part. Some days later he will go to another local NAPA and request the same part which they look up and see it is at another local NAPA and will have it for him the next day with no shipping surcharges.

I mocked up the front fenders:

http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/...with%20Dodge%20dually%20bed/IMG_5908.jpg

and narrowed, re-arched and added diamond plate to a 2-ton front bumper to fit the narrowed 2004 Dodge dually bed on my '50:

http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/...with%20Dodge%20dually%20bed/IMG_5904.jpg

http://i605.photobucket.com/albums/...with%20Dodge%20dually%20bed/IMG_5902.jpg

I'll use the same type of bumper in front.

Had to return all the tires to Sears becaused they rubbed a little when I hit a bump. Now waiting on replacements. I had ordered 265x70x15 but they gave 31x10.5x15 and said they were a match. Wrong, the 31' are an inch and a half larger in overall diameter.

Craig, that is some nice work you are doing there. If it weren't for that horizontal body line that bed would look even better.

Found a local chromer and took my two 3600 hood emblems in to have chromed. The price was exceptionally cheap ($20). I'll pick them up on Monday and pass on the quality of the work.

Hey guys, we all know it's winter. This isn't the place to talk about it. I've edited 2 posts and deleted 2 more today. Let's talk about our trucks

Thanks.

OK,cletis, my TRUCKS are cold!!

I spent some time working on the strut arm that goes from the lower control and bolts behind the crossmember. I took it to the machine shop and had him drill out the end of it to a 5/8" 18thread and ordered me two new ends from Speedway to fasten it back to the crossmember... and picked me up some grade 8 bolts.
I'll be on the road again, sooon.

Yep it's winter and to get the '61 truck ready to sit all winter long, I checked the antifreeze, removed the battery, put ample amounts of d-con in the cab, duct taped the holes I didn't get around to patching this year, and covered it with a tarp. How sad, guess that means it's final, ... I mean what I did and didn't get accomplished this year on the truck. There is always next year to get more done. smile

I got the 3 point seat belts installed yesterday. Hats off to Cletis for his instructions from a while back. I did the passenger side first and it took 2 hours of fitting and grinding til it took the bolt, drivers side went in on the first try!!!! Didn't think I'd ever have shoulder belts in my 56 big back window. Next up new covers for the seat, and after I unpacked the kit from Jim Carters, my wife said "that looks like fun, can I help". Might be interesting.......

I found a six lug rear end. I'm not sure, but I think it was off of a ford. It had heavy overload springs that had the ford logo stamped into it. Other than that there are no other markings that has a name is the hubs, they say Century .
