So, Cup holders. I have none. I had a plastic center thing that the shifter hit so I tossed it. Looking for something else. What do you have? Just would like to see my options.

Good topic. I bought a seat from Wise Guys in NY, one with a fold down arm rest; I've gotten pretty soft as I have aged. Your post made me think how much I depend on cup holders in my other truck and what I might do to fix this problem. If you remember back in the early 70's, as cup holders were introduced in new cars as an option and standard equipment in luxury cars, the aftermarket came out with add-on cup holders. I remember the ones that snapped down on the armrest and on the tranny hump in the floor.

I bought a couple of cup holders at O'reilly's, the kind that hook in the window slot. They were loose, so I added come 1/2" foam, now they work fine.

....and if the money is tight a roll of duct tape in the floor will get you there.

Hi Alvin. I use the roll of duct tape on the floor. It holds the drink, you can move it, and doesn't slide around the floor.

When I drive my truck (A.D.) to work I take a cup and thermos.

I use this box I have. It clips over the seat. ...pic...
I keep some small tools in it also
Keeps things from rolling around.
Works for my solo trips.

In true Canuck fashion I have continued the duct tape cup holder tradition for Dennis' truck

my answer is not to drink and drive.

i use an empty savinelli cigar box stuck to the floor. it holds two drinks if you have company or one drink and some cigars if alone.

Here is what I did. I got a piece of 2 inch PVC irrigation pipe, cut it down one side. Then cut away all the unwanted material. Carefull use of a heat gun, and I formed it to my coffee cup. The one tip I have on this is get a piece of pipe longer than you need. That way you can leave a long tail at the top, later to be bent over at 90% and attached to the dash. A couple of hours with a rasp, sandpaper, and paint and you have a cup holder that looks as good as any you can buy, plus you can customize any way you like.

I use a roll of duct tape. It doesn't move on the floor and holds my drinks without tipping.

I just got one of those fat-bottom cups with the rubber bottom to sit on the floor. They don't move around. Another option would be to get a pardner to ride with you to hold the cups.

Your pardner may empty the cup before you round the corner

I spent a few days tinkering around at a machine shop. Although not terribly pretty, the cup holders are invisible when not in use, and no holes were put in the truck to install the holders.

I can get anything in there from a standard Coke can to a Super big gulp and everything in between. I wanted at the very least to be able to hold a cup of coffee and the "trucker's restroom" gatorade bottles.

Wow. I like the in dash cup holder. May have to try that out some time when I get some time. But I will toss a role of duct tape in for the time being. Thanks for all the input. I sure need a place to put my coffee in the morning. Its a long drive sometimes so I need a little wake up.

Yeah, My friend Ted who was filming was a little nervous. The cup holder was built from scratch as a brain exercise. I looked at many ready-made options on ebay and in the bone yard. In the end I decided why not make my own, as all the vehicle pullout cupholders are plastic.

I just use a pop bottle with a screw on lid. Don't allow cups in my cars/trucks.

I'm sure this guy has many cup holders made with a roll of duct tape. Have a look just for fun.

Sort-of on topic, but on some early model trucks from what I have seen is that there are some glove box door that have shallow indents in the interior side that "while" parked you could have a place to rest your drink, or keep it from sliding on a slight incline. I've only seen them on a few models. Not very often or many, sometime I wondered if I imagined them.

Anybody have these?

I just throw the roll on the floor but I am sure you could be creative (Red Green?) and construct a sling to attach to the door or dashboard. Fancy Engineering

I have an idea. If you have an ash tray and do not smoke, why not replace it with a pull out cupholder or just cut a hole in it with a drill with a hole saw bit. It would probably only be big enough for one drink, but it beats nothing! My granddad just got some plywood and made a deep tray with various sized compartments and small holes for things like pens. its not pretty, but it works or you can sand and paint it and make it look pretty, or you can make it out of something flashy but manly out of diamondplate

I got this from Kennys' Trucks in Tulsa, Ok holds my beer and keeps my pistol tucked away, glove box will be gone after vintage air install.....it is a good arm rest too. It only straps in place and can be moved if need be. About $100.00

Cup holders are very important!

Best cup holder I've ever had has done a great job for nearly 28 years now. Only cost me my freedom and a couple of gold rings.

Stumbled across this on Ebay. Interesting, says it vintage but I've never heard of such. But then, there are lots of things I've not heard of.

That is one expensive cup holder! $168! I would rather build one than buy that one on ebay! I do like it though. Does anyone know what vehicle that cup holdeer is off of?

ya. The price is a little high. But A good idea it is. I will use that as a templet to build one.
