| | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 | well gents, i ended up selling my 39 1/2 ton and got a 38 1/2 ton. it has the 235 motor, automatic tranny, the guy had put a different ear end. when i got it it needed some repairs to make her run, i had the gas tank cleaned, carb rebuilt, i checked fuel pump. starts up. my sons help me on this one too... It may be that the linkage needs adjusting to let it go all the way into park. I'd put wheel chocks under all the wheels, or put it on jack stands, and disconnet the rod to the lever on the side of the tranny. Then see if the "arm" will move into the park position and if it does then see if the wheels spin or not. If they don't then adjust the lever/rod to the "arm" on the tranny and you should be in business....depending on what your running or if its a aftermarket kit that you can adjust...or you may have to buy one.

I've done a few homemade setups, and getting the rod just right is tricky. Good news is, nowadays you can buy an adjustable shift linkage setup. But, are you using a floor shift or a column shift, and what kind?
