Installed new valve springs on the cylinder making noise, the exhaust spring was very weak and now most of the rattle is gone so I ordered 10 more springs and will replace the rest. Lesson learned here is when rebuilding a motor replace the valve springs.

Fabricated a set of tailgate chains with 1/4" chain, add-a-links, and heavy carabieners. It works great, and was a helluva lot cheaper than buying the kit!

Got the seats sent off to the upholstry shop. Need to order some parts for the interior. Got the radiator back from the shop but he did not think to call me about making it modern high pressure. Now I'm thinking about sending it back and having it converted. With the five jug intake on it I might need the extra heat. Still wrestling with that one. I hate making decisions.......

Well, finally started tackling the brake situation again on the panel. I did get ONE of the two leaks stopped and a trip to NAPA tomorrow for some weatherhead/eaton fittings and I should be in business......that is if my eye appt. goes well and I can still see what I'm doing.

I got the front bumper of my big bolt rollback close to around 4" off the floor! Everything was surprisingly easy right up to the point of hooking up the steering linkage. Still figuring that out.

Finished tidying up and painting my freshly welded engine and strut rod mounts.
Put the steering rack and hoses in for the last time(hopefully!)
Made and installed a new M/C return spring mount.

I will re-fit the steering shafts, exhausts and bleed out the steering pump today,it'd better not flippin' leak!!!

Dang Jock, didn't you read Todd's warning about what happens when you do that? The question is, does it leak?

That's my point, from Alvin and Todd's reply I knew what would happen, I just mis-read Bruces (britcon) reply.
Thankfully it didn't do any damage, and no it didn't leak! grin
Scared the carp out me though.....

I did however manage to spill fluid down the front of the engine, the pump's mounted low on the left of the engine, right below the alternator mount.
It's hard enough just to get the cap off!

Well, I got most of the e-brake assembly off and cleaned (under my new lift installed last week) so I could adjust it and get my e brake back. So much undercoat you had to dig to find it. Got allllmost finished when the last (mangled and rusted) bolt broke the screw end of the right rear cable as I gently (sort of) tried to remove it after 40 useless applications of Kroil
failed to even touch it. Oh well - wait for the new cable and finish up when it gets here. Now I know why the e brake has never wanted to work, at least in my time. Dale

Last night I filled up my plug holes with ATF to try to get the engine unstuck and then began the clean-out of the interior.

The floormat and pad got ripped out. I took the shop vac to everything I could reach without removing the seat and the truck smells much better now without its cargo of mouse turds. Along with the turds I found at least seven dried out mice under the seat and in the cab corners.

You older guys must get your grandkids to clean out the cab corners for you when they won't stopping bugging you while you're working on your bolt. That is a pretty gross job and small hands would be an asset. wink

One little step at a time. Yesterday I marked for and drilled bolt holes for the air conditioner evaporator unit. Today I managed to hook up the remote control for the door opener and hook up a 1" hose to the cowl vent drain which I will be running down and over to exit at the passenger side toe-board.

Bend up some new fuel lines with some 5/16 copper tubing. Truck has way better fuel pressure now that it is not sucking in air and pushing rust in the carb. Also added a filter to the carb.

Installed new plugs, wires, coil and bracket, painted and installed the stomp start mechanism, motor and generator mounting brackets, carburator linkage, painted and installed the starter, oil filter cannister and painted the generator with plans for installation this evening after work. Whew... I reckon I've been busy. laalaa
I'm anxiously awaiting for the fuel pump to arrive. I have to fab up a fuel line from pump to carb, and a vacuum line from distributor to carb.

Got the emergency brake cables and assembly back together after many, many hours of cleaning tar and rust - man they were a mess - got it down off the lift - drove it a while - ebrake still not working - back up for more adjusting this morning. Seems such a small thing, but then-- will feel good when it finally works right.

The ‘53’s hood is painted and ready to install! Hopefully tonight I’ll get it bolted on.

The ’66 is back at the paint shop getting painted the correct color this time. They are also doing some additional body work to a few dents they missed the first time. I should bring it home some time this week.

The ’65 got a new tach mounted below the dash.

Installed the generator and fan belt and plumbed in the bypass oil filter. Carb is in transit and should arrive today!
I'm THIS close to getting to the tranny and buckling it all together.
I had a dream about my truck running last night... sweet.
