I'm a newbie to the board. I currently own a 1972 Chevy C10 longbed and my recently purchased 1950 GMC 3/4 ton pickup. The GMC is an ex Old Navy Store display truck. I've already found a wealth of information on this board to help me put the GMC back on the road.

Hello!!! I heard that the Old Navy trucks were just shells, or close. So, were you lucky? I hope you were.

It is pretty much a shell. The pedals, gear shifter, choke cables etc. were removed, but the body is solid. Since I'm planning on dropping in a V8, it will make a good platform.

Howdy from a former resident of Hampton Roads. What part of NN are you in? We lived down in Hampton but had friends up in Denbigh and Williamsburg. Loved that area. Cruising down the Colonial Parkway in your truck will be something to look forward to.

I live in the Denbigh section right beside Newport News Park. I'm about 3 miles from Fort Eustis. You are right about the Colonial Parkway. It's a great road to cruise on. I take my 72 out to Jamestown via the Colonial Parkway whenever I get a chance.

I visited your part of the world last October. My wifes pal from Scotland married a U.S Navy guy! They now live in Newport News. We stayed in NN for ten days and did the Colonial Parkway on route to Jamestown it was stunning!Only problem is,he's a Dodge man! I tried hard to convert him though! grin
Plus it was during the 400th Celebrations. Loads to see and do!
I had an ulterior motive...(To shop for goodies for my Bolt!) wink
Spent a bit of time in and around Fort Eustis too!

By the way, my mother was born in Motherwell,
Scotland, grew up in Glasgow, and immigrated to this country in the 50s.

I'm planning on leaving the truck the same color, so I hope I can keep the logo. I never bought a lot of clothes from Old Navy, but I always went into the stores to look at the trucks.

Welcome to Chesapeake. I think you and your family will like the area. There are a lot of collector car/truck events in this area to enjoy.

Thanks! As soon as things settle down we are planning on looking for a few. I need to get the house unpacked...lol.

We like it so far. Then again he is flying 53s so I think we would like it anywhere they are!
