This may sound dumb but, I was wondering about any input about front motor mounts. They have the mount on the side like the small-blocks do.

he fabricated the motor mounts himself, let me know if you want a pic of how they look.
i honestly would never do this change, its too complicated and alot of modification. just throw in a 235 or 261. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 | Resto 44, although I didn't do it, my 52 has a 250-6 in it. I like it. It's hooked up through the stock tranny/rear-end, and with the HEI ignition, runs great. With that motor, and the remainder of the stock set-up, I cruise right at 60 mph real comfortably. As others here have said, the motor mounts have to be changed to the side, and new ones either created, or purchased and put in place. However, there have been no modifications to my crossmember. I am sure that he put a 250 in his. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 95 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 95 | I put a 292 into a 54 6100 which has the side motor mounts the same as the 250 but slightly different positions. I cut the brackets that are attached to the frame out of the 1970 donor truck and cut them down to fit the narrow frame of the 54. I bolted the engine to the transmission and held it in place with the engine hoist and cut the brackets to fit and then bolted them in place. I haul 9000 lbs of water almost every day with ou any problems.
