18 November 2005 Update

From Al:

Greetings fellow Bolters. Here is a pic of my '53 project. You can see some progress being made.

The cab, clip, and bed now rests on a '79 Cutlass frame, with 350 Olds engine and running gear, complete with power steering, brakes, and tilt.

The ole bolt now sits about 12 inches lower and has 4 inches of ground clearance (no offroading for this ole ride). I had to shorten the bed about 9 inches. I built a new tailgate out of 1 1/2" tubing.

     I'll send more updates later.

Thanks,

Al Falke

We got all these parts at a real bargain!. And a 1946 Chevy Coupe in the Alternate Gallery! ~~ Editor

From Al:

I just thought I'd send a pic of my two ol' Bolts. The '53 (red) is a 3/4-ton Chevy. It is complete but I need to find a good 235 or 261 engine for it. (Al told us he found one before the month was out -- "A friend in town gave me a complete 235 motor, that was rebuilt. It's the old story of 'oh it didn't have enough power so I installed a V-8'. Well the man he sold the truck to put me in touch with him and he gave me the motor ... sweet deal huh?" ~ Editor)

The other Bolt is a '48 1/2-ton Chevy and is a complete truck, worthy of a total resto. We also have a '57 Chevy 1/2-ton and a '46 Chevy vintage racing jalopy along with a lot of extra parts (my friend had to clean up his property).

I also got a trailer load of extra parts with these trucks at a real bargain. ------ hold on to your socks ---- I bought all of this for $300.00-- hard to believe, but true!

Keep on truckin ...
