Option 1)
000 or 0000 steel wool (w/mineral spirits or Windex)
Option 2)
Straight razor and Windex

Or option 3)
HAMMER smile

Try the razor blade. Use thinner or mineral spirits and be careful not to get it on your new paint!

You can use laquer thinner, but be careful.

I would think the laquer thinner is best, like you were warned though. It depends on the paint your using and it can take off paint you dont want off either, just be careful.

Here is an option you wont here most people suggest. Tooth paste ( the old kind - white ) and a soft cloth. This should get the stuff that the straight razor blade missed.

Good luck!

I own a window cleaning company and get overspray and paint off glass all the time. You don't need any solvents or thinners to worry about your paint. Just squirt some Dawn or Joy into your water, make it fairly sudsy, and put it on your glass. You can use 0000 steel wool, 000 can scratch or a sharp razor blade, either one works. The soapy water keeps the glass from scratching, it works on trucks or houses, just don't scrape any glass dry you will scratch the glass.

I have a shop here in pasadena, tx and all those things work, but has it's disadvantages.steel wool brakes down into very
littal peaces that will get stuck in your window felts &
on you exterior paint,if you do not totally remove it ,the next time it rains or you wash the car ,those peaces will rust leaving
spots on the paint.
Auto glass is tempered so they will shatter on impact, that makes them softer,so razor blades scratch but you won't notice it until your inside.
the best thing I found for cleaning windows that works very well is I mix a med.
rubbing compond & a carnuba or butter wax 1/2 & 1/2,this solution
is good for cleaning rubbers, moldings, all your aluminom & chrome. It work very well for interior switches, knobs & all those
hard to clean spots with years of grim,it cleans and shines at the same time.
If you have what looks like acid rain spot on your glass, this solution work good for that, but it dose take some rubbing.
I hope this help.

Don't use an old blade with rust on it because it will scratch the glass!

Ive had plenty of luck using WD40. Spray it on. Wont hurt your paint at all, use a new razor blade to gently clean your window or even some newspaper.
