Use thinner or mineral spirits and be careful not to get it on your new paint! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 131 Certified Bolt Nut | | Certified Bolt Nut Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 131 | you can always buy new glass 8-) | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 23 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 23 | You can use laquer thinner, but be careful.

It depends on the paint your using and it can take off paint you dont want off either, just be careful. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 1 | Back from the dead i know, use a claybar, works WONDERS and wont hurt your paint | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 988 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 988 | Here is an option you wont here most people suggest. Tooth paste ( the old kind - white ) and a soft cloth. This should get the stuff that the straight razor blade missed.
Good luck!

You don't need any solvents or thinners to worry about your paint. Just squirt some Dawn or Joy into your water, make it fairly sudsy, and put it on your glass. You can use 0000 steel wool, 000 can scratch or a sharp razor blade, either one works. The soapy water keeps the glass from scratching, it works on trucks or houses, just don't scrape any glass dry you will scratch the glass.

Auto glass is tempered so they will shatter on impact, that makes them softer,so razor blades scratch but you won't notice it until your inside. the best thing I found for cleaning windows that works very well is I mix a med. rubbing compond & a carnuba or butter wax 1/2 & 1/2,this solution is good for cleaning rubbers, moldings, all your aluminom & chrome. It work very well for interior switches, knobs & all those hard to clean spots with years of grim,it cleans and shines at the same time. If you have what looks like acid rain spot on your glass, this solution work good for that, but it dose take some rubbing. I hope this help.
