It runs great, although I cant drive it yet LOL. There are a few things that need to be taken care of on it like the rusted floorboard and the seals in the doors and windows are bad. The body is in decent shape though and it appears that someone started to fix it up before we were lucky enought to get it. Unfortunately they put bucket seats from an Oldsmobile in it :rolleyes: . Not sure what they were thinking there???
We have never done this before and he wants to do a restore on it, but we are having trouble figuring out the original paint color.
I will welcome any advice and links that one could send my way. There are a few things that I would love to have done for him before he comes home.

Welcome to the "Bolt". I would think that a '67 would have a paint code marked on the VIN tag. What about in the glove box? It seems that around that year, a lot of information used to be on the inside of the glove box door. Hang in there, someone with better information is bound to come along. It's been quite a few years since I owned a mid 60's Chevy truck.

I understand fully what you are going through, I'm nearing the end of my tour in Iraq. I have about a month left. I was happy to see your from Georgia, there are a few of us Southern Bolters on the site, there's always room for more. Your 67' is pretty popular in the South, I have friends around Savanah who have one or two. As far as your seat goes the 90's spilt benches fit 67-72's real well and look great too. There are lots of aftermarket parts for your truck as well, time to collect some catalogs and do some pricing. If you get down around Brunswick give me a shout, always glad to meet truck people.

Answer to your original question... look under the hood, either on the firewall just behind the brake booster or very near the cowl vent area, there should be a small metal tag, riveted, scalloped edges. This will have the trim options codes, interior colors codes, and exterior colors codes listed. Your numbers will usually be 2 numerics and 1 alpha. Copy all of them, take them to your local paint supplier, and they will help you from there. The exterior paint code is usually the second one in the bottom row. Welcome aboard. As I first started reading your post, I was thinking what a great thing it would be to do some work on the truck to surprise him. But you were ahead of me. He's a lucky man! Be sure to remind him of that!
There are a number of women restoring old bolts on this site so you are not alone! You should be able to locate many things for your truck by noodling around on the internet. There are a number of suppliers of body and cab parts. Not sure how much you will be doing yourself but if you post specific questions there will surely be someone here who has an answer. At the very least you'll get some opinions and some good laughs!!!

Like the others said, bite off small chunks at a time, get plenty of parts supplier catalogs, and don't be afraid to ask questions (the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask).
