For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! The previous owner did the spray bomb black and red drawings. Otherwise the truck is said to be all origonal except for a '54 235. I should be picking up my S10 doner vehicle sometime next week. It's a '92ish LB RC S15 2.5l auto trans. 1953 3100 http://picasaweb.google.com/dbrown35 | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,522 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,522 | | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Looks like you've got a really good starting point! What's the plan? Restore to stock appearance? Or maybe period hot rod? Looks like the PO was going for the rat rod look. The water valve on the heater hose is hilarious!!

Looks like you got a pretty nice truck to start with. I bet a lot of bolters wish theirs were that good to start with. Have fun. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 17 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 17 | Originally posted by LONGBOX55: The water valve on the heater hose is hilarious!! Yeah, we had a good laugh also. Plus it looks like an engine heater was added and the truck was said to have come from Arkansa about 4 years ago. The other thing that confuses me is you see the heater hoses going into the fire wall, but it looks like the heater core like is stick out with the 2 nipples exposed. The previous owner was going rat rod. When I 1st looked at it, he had all the fenders, hood, and boards off it. The current plan is an S10 frame swap, probably 350 w/ an auto trans. Have been wondering about a Turbo Buick 3.8 though. If that would even be reasonable price wise. 18" inch wheels and most likely add airbags eventually For the body, plan is to leave the body mostly stock. I want to shave the door handles and convert the window glass to the early style 1 piece. Paint will be Chryslers Intense Blue with metallic silver instead of chrome trim. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2005 Posts: 1,028 | Looks like a nice truck. Has about 10% of the rust and rot mine had.
I too got a chuckle out of the gate valve on the heater hose. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 | Uhhh, the tail light lenses are nice... Ha! The only thing you're going to use is the sheet metal and most of us have seen far worse. Sounds like it will be a fine machine when it's all done. Have fun. Chronicle the build with lot's of pix!!! Vacuum hose plugged into the valve... A/C, vacuum hose unplugged from the valve and a golf tee stick in it... Heat.

Since this is the first project I have undertaken I had no idea if I landed a good vehicle or not. I was just hoping so. The project will most likely not progress real fast as we are in a state of recloation where the truck in being kept/tinkered on at the inlaws barn. So, what is the deal with the water valve anyway? Did anyone notice the electric pump in the same area? Not sure if I had a good shot of that or not. orchidskip - If I drive it out to give you a ride, I may just have to stay and move in. I don't think I'd want to come back to MI.
