Well, I finally got around to taking picture of the truck I bought just before winter. The previous owner did the spray bomb black and red drawings. Otherwise the truck is said to be all origonal except for a '54 235.

I should be picking up my S10 doner vehicle sometime next week. It's a '92ish LB RC S15 2.5l auto trans.

Looks like you've got a really good starting point! What's the plan? Restore to stock appearance? Or maybe period hot rod?
Looks like the PO was going for the rat rod look. The water valve on the heater hose is hilarious!! grin

First comes the pain then the agony .....then the delight! Looks like you got a pretty nice truck to start with. I bet a lot of bolters wish theirs were that good to start with. Have fun.

Yeah, we had a good laugh also. Plus it looks like an engine heater was added and the truck was said to have come from Arkansa about 4 years ago.

The other thing that confuses me is you see the heater hoses going into the fire wall, but it looks like the heater core like is stick out with the 2 nipples exposed.

The previous owner was going rat rod. When I 1st looked at it, he had all the fenders, hood, and boards off it.

The current plan is an S10 frame swap, probably 350 w/ an auto trans. Have been wondering about a Turbo Buick 3.8 though. If that would even be reasonable price wise. 18" inch wheels and most likely add airbags eventually

For the body, plan is to leave the body mostly stock. I want to shave the door handles and convert the window glass to the early style 1 piece. Paint will be Chryslers Intense Blue with metallic silver instead of chrome trim.

Looks like a nice truck. Has about 10% of the rust and rot mine had.

I too got a chuckle out of the gate valve on the heater hose.

Uhhh, the tail light lenses are nice...
Ha! The only thing you're going to use is the sheet metal and most of us have seen far worse. Sounds like it will be a fine machine when it's all done. Have fun. Chronicle the build with lot's of pix!!! When it's done, I got shotgun!

Did anyone notice the bar welded onto the rear axle drain plug? That can't be original.

Yeah about the water valve... just reminds me of the A/C setup I had on an old '74 Ford LTD. Vacuum hose plugged into the valve... A/C, vacuum hose unplugged from the valve and a golf tee stick in it... Heat.

Thanks for all the replies. Makes me feel alot better about the purchase. Since this is the first project I have undertaken I had no idea if I landed a good vehicle or not. I was just hoping so.

The project will most likely not progress real fast as we are in a state of recloation where the truck in being kept/tinkered on at the inlaws barn.

So, what is the deal with the water valve anyway? Did anyone notice the electric pump in the same area? Not sure if I had a good shot of that or not.

orchidskip - If I drive it out to give you a ride, I may just have to stay and move in. I don't think I'd want to come back to MI. grin grin

WE b OLD - Thanks, I'll look into that issue.

If you buy it and don't miss the money you paid for it....You did OK.

If you sell it and wish you had got more for it...You should have asked for more.
