This died out the last few weekends so I decided to resurrect it.

We didnt get much done on my truck. He was working on his '49.

I did have to spend 3 hours cleaning my rims.. see the post on my retardedness in the Spoon . That's what I get for not taking Toxic's advice...lol.

Other than that I rewired the cigarette lighter so I can play my iPod. Woohoo so productive. Oh yeah I got the house cleaned... changed about 15 diapers and filled 85 sippy cups...hehe :p

Hey Lori; I don't know how you have any time at all with all those mommy chores to do but I'm glad you got to work on the truck a little.

I started my long dreaded kingpin replacement project, got the passenger side done. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I followed the advice in the Tech Tips forum, worked great.

Have a great week.

Been working on my bed boards. Got 5 coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane on them at this point. Don't mind putting the urethane on , it's the sanding between coats that I hate. They are starting to look very "pretty".

On the house, got the pool ready for swimming, replaced a low voltage transformer in my track lighting system, fixed a minor roof leak from recent rains, worked on the outdoor irrigation system, mowed the lawn, and did laundry.

On the truck, received some parts including a replacement headlight bracket for the one that has been broken in half since I owned the truck, the chrome center mullion for the split window, replacement headlight buckets, and finally won an auction to get the hood ornament.

Not nearly as much work on the truck as I would have liked, but the remaining parts I need to complete are down to just a very few.

If it ain't broke, take it apart and figure out why!

I installed a 6v wiper, unhooked the vacuum line, installed a brass plug on the manifold, adjusted the brakes out, and went for a couple of rides. grin

Now I'm thinking that I need to hunt down a bigger battery cable because the old girl will start up when hot, she'll start up when cold, but when she's warm, she'll not have any of it.

Lori: I only changed one diaper this past weekend. Then again, he's not my kid... grin

I got yelled at a LOT by the Mrs... I did get The Ox out, hosed some flat black on it, scrubbed off a bunch of dirt and took it down the street to get some gas... then i parked it in the new garage and moved the coupe into the single side of the old garage so the Mrs can park her POS inside...

I cut six 6x6 by 8 foot and eight 4x8 by 10 foot beams to take to AZ (building a patio cover.)

Then I mowed the lawn and the empty lots next to mine (keeping the weeds down).

Another quality post.

I finished dis-assembly of the front suspension on my 57. Then I set up a temporary sandblast cabinet using a few step ladders and some old tarps. I sandblasted my front axle, front spindles and few other items. Once all the blasting was done I painted most of the front suspension except the springs. Also tore into the rear springs packs. Took them apart and got them ready to go to the spring shop to be re-arched.

I accomplished exactly squat! Spent most of the weekend on the road, going to and comming from the Food City 500 in Bristol. Let me tell you all something, the trip was very tiring. Traffic was terrible trying to get out. Good race, though, even though Kyle Busch won  . Was hoping that Burton would have had something for him in those last 10 laps.

I got to work on my 48 for a few hours Saterday and Sunday. Saterday was absolutly terrible. I cut and re-welded the drive shaft about a 1/4" to short so I thought I would wire in the new gauges. As I proceeded to do that the insulative cover on the wires proceeded to turn to a fine powder exposing the bare wire. I figured I would start the truck and let it run for a while with the fresh gas I had put in it. The starter died on me but not befor it cranked just eniough to let me know the oil gauge line had broke so it could properly oil my interior. before I left I did find out why the Truck would not start. The coil had no spark. Sunday I re-wired the coil and got it to run. At least the weekend was not an entire loss....

Man, I'm glad the weekend is gone! I did get to go toa cruise in at the Beacon Friday night but its been rough. I had to put front struts on the wife's car, fixed the shower head, picked up a new lawn mower battery, BUT the kicker is this: I knew my the perch blocks on the rear end in my 37 had "ripped" out of the housing. Well, I told wife late Saturday I was just going to put it on jack stands and survey the damage. Well, I ended up pulling the transmission out and left the rear end in the truck. The darn shift kit is killing it AND the darn thing started leaking at the front seal and at the shifter arm. So, its now at the tranny man getting a checkup. I just put the 700R4 in it last fall. Now, while he has the tranny I will be pulling the complete rear end out. BUT, I still got a few little pieces blasted and primed on the panel. Sunday? I refuse to do anything but go to church and sleep. This Saturday I'm heading out on a much needed vacation to Roswell, New Mexico.

Tried to do a little research on some of my engine numbers. I'm amazed at the amount of misinformation on the internet and books. Take my cylinder heads...please. Try to research casting #3767460. On one site it's for a 283 from '59-'60, another site 327 '62-'64, another 265/283/327 from '55-'67, and I could go on. The casting date is from 1959, and I know they're on a 283 block, so I'll go with the site that says they're from a 283.

We drove the '56 to town for dinner and hit the carwash while there. Did a burnout once we pulled onto our road on the way home. It ran great so I didn't do any work on it.

Got the throttle linkage on the 46 1 ton working, went to the Goodguys show in Pleasanton but was diaspointed that there weren't any really good trucks.

Cleaned and organized the garage. Took the seats to my office across town to get them out of my way. Did some practice bending and flaring my 3/16 steel brake lines in anticipation of getting my brakes finished. I still need to make a decision on what master cyl. to buy.
Got notice that my hub caps and beauty rings have been shipped. They've been on back order for two months. Slow boat from China I guess.

I finally got my rear axle out and on the floor.Took the old leaf springs out. Had one pin in the shackel & hanger I could not get out so I cut it off with the dramel(what a great tool)and punched it through.Put new shackels & pins in the rear hangers.Punched out the old bushings from the used springs I bought and painted the springs.Put new bushings in. Went to put the bolt in the front of the rear spring and it didn't fit. I called American Classic Truck & told them the bolts I bought were too short. Thought it was because of cheap China crap. Turns out I got the wrong bolts. They listed two different ones for a 57. Mine appears to be the other ones. Now I can wait until this coming weekend to put the springs & "new" used axle in. At least I got something done.

Saturday I went with a friend and watched his bodyman/painter work on his '66 GTO. Asked lots of questions and learned a few things. Was worth the time. On Sunday, I finished striping the inside of the '57's rear fender. What a pain. It just needs a little blasting to clean it up. The other fenders & bedsides will go the local media blaster. Monday, at my body shop class, I got the patch panel for the fender welded in.
