I need a key blank for a 60 Apache C10, does anyone know where to get these, or know the key #? I haven't tried a locksmith as of yet.

Give Jarvis Erickson a call. He advertises in the Vintage Cherolet Car Club (VCCA) magazine and he has done some work for me. Advertises original blanks and does lock work on the old stuff. His phone/fax number is 425-776-2804. He lives in Washington state and is a good guy.

I got some at my Locksmiths'.

They've been in business since 1909 or thereabouts, and still have NOS key blanks for most things, believe it or not.

If you've got a Locksmith in your area that has been in business for a while, they should have the blanks you need, and can probably cut them for you, too.

Okay, my question is this. Can this Jarvis Erickson do anything about cutting a spare or two off of a VERY worn original? I only have one key for the truck and the teeth on the key look like rolling hills, if you know what I mean!

I don't know why you want a key blank, unless it is to cut a new key. I would say if you want copies of the keys you have probably not, unless you have the key code. Take your key to True Value or some other hardware store and try to get a copy made. If it works great! Otherwise you will need a locksmith. They can "read" the keyway, and punch a new working key. If you are really pressed for cash you can do as my dad did. He would take a nail, pound it flat, and with a triangular file make a key. It is possible you, just need HUGE amounts of time.

keys for a geo metro work for my 41 so if you just want a extra key it should work for you

I work at Year One. One of our catalogs is for '58-'72 Impala...which covers my '62 Suburban. I just went to the catalog and looked up the key for a '58-'64 Impala and got one of those. Went to the local Feed & Seed, where they still have the old style key cutter (UNLIKE Home Depot, who can't exactly copy a key), and they cut the new one off of the old, well-worn key.

This is a good time to point out that a lot of things GM put on our trucks were also found on cars. While not as many places specialize in our trucks, you can find a good bit of stuff for the same vintage cars.

1935-1967 GM use either B-10 or B-11 blanks, and may be available at hardware stores.

When I locked my keys in the trunk of a 1970 Pontiac about 25 years ago, I removed the glove box lock cylinder, and the local GM dealer made me a new key from the number on the lock. The same thing can be done by removing the ignition lock cylinder.
