I need opinions. I'm going to paint my truck in the next couple months. The exterior will remain dark green (Forester or something similar). The gray hubcaps (from my old 53) will be retired and replaced with some chrome caps that are more correct for the year.

But I really don't want the interior to be original for I have never liked the colors Chevy picked. I could very easily go all black but that might be just too much. Could bring the green inside topped off with black door panels, headliner and seat cover, but that might be.....what?

Should I consider bringing in a 3rd color for dash and doors? Steering column will be the same as whatever I paint. I need PEEK SURES! of what you folks have done.

I suspose what ever you think goes good with green or what ever color you chose,, just dont let my wife try to do it for you I am not much into green but I would think a darker or light of the out side, maybe even the inside.. I think black might work.. of course mine is red,, red dash, black seats,head liner and door inserts( all cloth) good luck with it,, nice to hear from you.. have you been in touch with Tony as of late.....

If you're getting the exterior painted as well, you might want to think about a metallic green. A guy a couple of blocks down the street has a 40 something F--- that he painted with a large fleck metallic green on the inside and is going to paint with a small fleck metallic green on the outside. The interior looks great and based on another truck that I saw this past weekend at a local car show, the outside will look good and go well with the interior. If someone had told me, I wouldn't have thought it would look good, but having seen it, it is really nice.

I like this geen.. could go with black or same geen on the inside or a little of both.........

What is the stock color you have? My 46 appears to have the GMC silver brown (gray to me). I wish I could find something like it without paying the big dollars. The silver gray allows the detail to show and makes the inside of the cab bright. I like it better than the hammered brown that most of the Decos have. On a side note, I haved posted a couple of times asking if anyone else's chevy has the GMC paint..but no answers yet.

Anyway, long answer short, have you looked at silver gray?

The original color is sea foam green which is way too bright for me. Interior was the infamous champagne or whatever. I might be going with dark green on outside as well as inside, chased by black door panels, steering wheel, headliner, mats and arm rest.

Then lies the speaker grill and glove box. Should they be same color as the dash or a contrasting color?

Go with a lighter green of the era to replicate a two tone scheme but with one shade inside and the other outside. I like a Sage color of green myself. GM had a nice shade in the mid to late 80's on some of their Oldsmobile Calies' I think,

I think I would go with a lighter green,for the interior.Just my opinion.

I'd choose along with Joker. Black or the same color green with buckskin or saddle colored seats.

Hang on to those painted hubcaps. They are correct for 52-53 and are hard to find in decent shape.
